Mac's Tire Pros & Auto Repair is proud to announce our recent addition of an electric car charging station. 

As the Richmond area's first fast charging station, our Level 3 charger can charge hybrids and electric vehicles in as little as 30 minutes with compatibility for the Chevy Spark, Nissan LEAF, Tesla Model S, and more.  For the time being, drivers can use the charger at no cost, (Mac) McManus, the service center’s president and co-owner, said at the system’s public inauguration. 

Located at 308 England St. in the town — widely known as the Center of the Universe — the independent repair center is near the ceaseless stream of cars and trucks traveling on Interstate 95 and U.S. 1. 

The charger is about the size of a conventional gas pump. “I’ve named this one ‘Sparky,’ ” McManus said. 

For the technically inclined, the charging system uses three-phase, 208-volt, 100-amp electrical current.
